Guidance on reporting of spatial data 2010-03-22 creation See the referenced specification true Salmonid waters, Special Areas of Conservation (SACs, cSACs, pcSACs) and Special Protection Areas (SPAs and pSPAs) are included within the Register as areas protected for water dependent species and habitats. The protected areas for Salmonid species are comprised of the 34 Salmonid rivers, tributaries and lakes listed in the Salmonid Regulations (S.I. 293 / 1988) The Salmonid Regulations designate the "waters capable of supporting salmon (Salmo salar), trout (Salmo trutta), char (Salvelinus) and whitefish (Coregonus)" as protected. In contrast, the Habitat regulations (S.I. 94 / 1997) protect the habitats of Atlantic Salmon only. For this reason, the Salmonid Regulations are contained within the Register independently from the Habitat Regulations. Only the SACs that contain water dependent species and habitats have been included within the Register.In some cases, the actual extent of water dependent habitats and species within certain SACs is unclear. Where this is the case, the entire SAC has been included within the Register. Spatial Accuracy: all protected water bodies are extracted from the existing WFD water body layers: spatial accurracy of each of the water body types (river, lake or transitional water) is described in the metadata for that layer. Thematic Accuracy: The name of each protected area is as per the relevant legislation. Protected area codes are unique incremental numbers. Currency: as per the dates of the relevant legislation Logical Consistency: The dataset meets the topological requirements set out in Guidance Document number 22: Support for Reporting of RBMP, Guidance on reporting of spatial data.
